Here's what my recruitment agency looked like before (and if you've ever ran or worked in a recruitment agency,
then I'm sure you can relate)...

I call this the "Traditional Agency" model:
  • Step 1 - The cycle usually begins with manually searching for the next placement opportunity on LinkedIn, job boards, ads and so on - cold calling, messaging and doing manual outbound outreach to drum up placement business.

  • Generally, because this happens when we NEED clients and are short on time already, the process for this hasn't really been optimized as well as it could be...

  • So we never know how many messages we'll need to send to find the client with placement needs - some months are easier and more lucrative than others, but we don't know whether this time will be a feast or a famine.

  • It's common to waste hours and hours for days or weeks on end tediously customizing messages and then trying to spark a productive conversation with the rare few who respond.
  • Step 2 - When we finally do get a positive response, we often have to play phone or email tag trying to find a time on the calendar that works for us AND all the necessary decision-makers.

    In fact, sometimes it'll take MULTIPLE meetings to get anywhere... and responses can take days at a time since we're talking to people who have other responsibilities beyond filling this one job.


    Some of these leads tend to go dark before we get anywhere and stop responding, or never show up to the call.
  • Step 3 - Our close process involves manually walking clients through our placement fees on an individual basis, trying to customize and personalize our services to land the deal, and negotiating on percentages to make it happen, because we need all the placements we can get.
  • Step 4 - Because of this, our process is inconsistent and unoptimized. When we DO close, we now need to manually adjust and send contracts, negotiate back and forth on those, and then deal with customized terms based on the negotiated rates and agreements.
  • Step 5 - We tend to lose leads at this stage as well due to the contract back and forth and manual processes or leads who just "ghost" - then we're back to step 1.
  • Step 6 - Once we get a client, we immediately need to start manually searching for candidates on LinkedIn and job boards to fulfill the placement before we can collect the fee. This often takes precedence since our revenue/income is on the line, and we dedicate most of our time to completing the placement - so our client-getting falls by the wayside.
  • Step 7 - Just like with clients, once we find some potential candidates we have to play phone, email, and calendar tag to interview them initially for fit, then AGAIN to get them connected to the clients if they are a good fit.
  • Step 8 - Once we complete a placement we often then have to chase down the placement fee, with clients taking weeks or months to settle the invoice. More email/phone tag, all while you're trying to find your next placement again. 

The Result:

We're constantly chained to your computer, phone, or desk - working evenings, weekends, and even during vacations to keep
the placement pipeline running.

And no matter what we try, we can't seem to break through consistent monthly revenue, because placement fees reset to zero every month and we just never have enough time to build
